Welcome to the School Council web page
St John Fisher School Council 2009
2009 was an exciting year for our School Council with the delivery of the tyres and junior apparatus that previous councils had worked hard to secure for the school.
The Council represented the views of every year group in the school and as a direct result of their lobbying Year 6 now sit on benches at school events such as assemblies and Masses.
The school has embarked upon the ambitious project of becoming an Eco-School and with the help of the council has already achieved a Bronze medal and we are well on the way to achieving the Silver. Last year the council were instrumental in writing the Eco-code for the school and have laid the foundations for the school to cut its carbon footprint significantly over the coming years. This involved looking at how we use all the resources within the school and identifying where we can REDUCE, REUSE or RECYCLE.
The Council had ambitious plans for the development of the school grounds and were the voice of the children in developing the ambitious, exciting and innovative plan that we now have in place.
The Council helped to raise funds for the school by providing refreshments to parents during our week of celebrations for the Feast of St John Fisher.
The School Council 2009 had lots of wonderful ideas for fundraising and improving the school environment that they hope will come to fruition this year.
We would like to say a big thank you for all your support!
About the School Council
We have two class representatives per year. The class representatives go to the weekly meetings and then report back to their class. The class then feeds back on the ideas about the issues raised.
