Dear Parents,

Welcome to Year 2.I hope that your child has settled into the new class without too many difficulties. The following timetable is to help the children remember what items they need to bring to the school each day.

P.E. Monday and Friday (please make sure that all kit is labelled clearly)

The children need to bring in their book bags every day. Every child should have a painting overall in school.Please encourage your child to be independent and organised and have all their books and kit in school.

Reading:

Your child is able to exchange books within the same colour band and will make his/her own individual progress through the reading levels. Children should exchange their book themselves when they have finished reading it. As part of the Literacy Hour, the children will take part in guided reading in a small group once a week, and will read individually with myself. Please read with your child every day.

Homework:

Big Talk homework will be given on Thursdays ( approximately once a month)

Whole class spellings lists will not be given each week and there will be no weekly spelling tests. Children will be taught spelling rules and strategies in class in line with the Primary Strategy and tested the following week. Personal spelling lists may be given as appropriate.

Other homework will be given as appropriate.
