Curriculum

All aspects of our curriculum are accessible to all children, irrespective of their ethnic background, gender, disability, religious or linguistic background. We strive hard to meet the needs of those pupils with special educational needs, those with disabilities, those who are more able, those with special gifts and talents and the children who are learning English as an additional language. We provide a rich, challenging curriculum, which stretches all of our children.

Curriculum Aims

We believe our curriculum should help children to:
  • Celebrate diversity
  • Reach their full potential
  • Become independent and collaborative learners
  • Think creatively and solve problems
  • Live healthy lifestyles and build positive relationships
  • Make connections
  • Understand the importance of British Values
  • Appreciate and respect the world we live in

Growth Mindset

The definition of growth mindset is the belief that skills and intelligence can be improved with effort and persistence. The school promotes growth mindset to help children embrace challenges, stay resilient through difficulties, learn from feedback and seek out inspiration from others success. This approach focuses on rewarding effort and perseverance.

Outdoor Learning

We are fortunate to have extensive grounds at the school which we use for outdoor learning. Our field features an open-air summer house built to provide a quiet, shaded area for classes to read. As well as having a wooded area beside the school for Forest school activities, we have a pond area used for geography fieldwork and science investigations. The school also includes a KS1 prayer garden used by small groups for prayer and reflection activities.

Extra-curricular activities

There is a rich and diverse extra-curricular programme at the school. We have some external providers such as Rocksteady Music, the Laura Ellis Art Club, Gardening Club and Premier Education sports, who use our school site, and some internal clubs led by teachers. Our teacher led clubs include Chaplaincy, rosary club, chess club, homework club, KS1 Crafts, story time, times tables club and the Year 6 SATs Booster club. The sports clubs include football, netball and gymnastics.
